My mom was loved and cared for like family.
Their Experience, In Their Own Words
Every move to assisted living comes with its own questions, concerns, and hopes. These stories share what families and residents experienced before coming to Heritage, what changed after the move, and what made Heritage feel like the right place.
“Finding Heritage Assisted Living was a godsend.”
My mother-in-law slowly became unable to care for herself. From remembering her maintenance medicine to processing her laundry and feeding herself, her safety and quality of life – and our worries for them both – seemed to get worse every week.
We tried independent living, but couldn’t confirm she was taking her medicine and eating, let alone had clean clothes and a nice place to live. We had visiting nurses but couldn’t rely on them all of the time. Other residents in the independent living center were helpful, but we were not comfortable she was safe. When we figured out she was genuinely anxious about finding her way to the dining hall and back to her apartment, we knew something had to be done.
Finding Heritage Assisted Living was a godsend. Although it’s a facility large enough to provide 24-hour nurse supervision, all of the management and care personnel are onsite and available for any concern we may have. Our loved one has flourished at Heritage. Her anxiety is gone, and she is genuinely happy.
Although she requires care, they’ve given her back her dignity and independence to engage in outings and group activities as she feels comfortable. Above all, she feels at home and safe. The nursing and kitchen staff keep her engaged and social. Unlike the large corporate-owned facilities, Heritage and its employees take ownership of their work because the owners of the company are just down the hall.
“We were welcomed into the facility with open arms.”
I moved my mother into assisted living at Heritage about three months ago. It was a difficult decision to make, but we were welcomed into the facility with open arms from the entire staff.
We worked with the nursing staff to get the proper medications ordered and scheduled routine blood checks and pacemaker checks. I felt she was in good hands and would be properly taken care of medically.
Housekeeping has kept her room very clean and laundry done. She needs help bathing and transporting to and from meals and the staff has been very good about providing the assistance she needs.
The cook staff prepares a variety of foods and well-rounded meals. They also offer several options if the main dish for the day is not to one’s liking.
Although she has chosen not to attend any activities, there are many opportunities available.
All in all, we are happy that we chose Heritage for the proper care of my mother. Thank you to all the staff for helping to make it a smooth transition.
Residents and Families Share Their Experience
When the doctor told me that I could no longer live alone, I was unaware of assisted living. I spent five years in a nursing home. The social worker there told me about the Advantage Program and Heritage. Happily, I made the move in 2011. I’ve been perfectly content ever since.
Heritage meets my needs. I’m not alone, but I also have my privacy respected. All the staff are caring and professional. I am able to have Merlin, my cat. The food is good. Services meet my needs. I only wish I had known about Heritage Assisted Living earlier.
I just wanted to let you know Mom is very pleased with Heritage. She really likes it. Everyone from the nurses to the house keeping staff are very caring. I couldn’t ask for a better place for Mom to stay.
Heritage is my home. The staff is great. They monitor my medicine and hygiene. I love the great whirlpool, activities and outings. I love having rides to doctors’ appointments.
